Secured Credit Cards can speed up you credit history building process

If Credit Card Companies feel you pose some form of risk in terms of your income or past credit history then you will be offered a Secured Credit Card. Secured Credit Cards mean you can only spend as much money has you have in the bank linked to that card. 

Secured Credit Cards are a good starting point if you are trying to rebuild you credit history. If you are student and have no record of any credit then you will find that by applying for a Secured Credit Card will serve your purpose until you are in a better position to Apply for a Credit Card that is not secured. 

Secured Credit Cards are no really different in appearance in that they usually do carry the MasterCard or Visa Logo. You can use the card in the same way as a normal Credit Card allowing you to buy things on the Internet or book holidays. As long as you have sufficient money on deposit then you will have no problems.  

If you do end up having to settle for a Secured Credit Card then make sure you get a copy of your Credit Report and see where you stand in terms of your scoring. Sometimes there may be items on your Report that may not be correct. Make sure all items are correct and accurate as all this information is what Credit Card companies use to asses your Credit application.
